The Taxslayer Bowl Game


The TaxSlayer Bowl Game is an annual college football bowl game that will be held at the EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. It transcends being just a football game. December 27 through January 2 provides a full week of parties, activities, and attractions for fans of all ages. All of the excitement comes to a head on January 2 as one of America’s most exciting bowl games gets underway. Starting at noon, the TaxSlayer Bowl is sure to keep you on your feet.


Originally named the Gator Bowl, the TaxSlayer Bowl has been held continuously since 1946, making it the sixth oldest college bowl, as well as the first college bowl to ever be televised nationally. became the title sponsor in 2011 with the bowl taking its current name in 2014 after a new contract. The bowl is operated by Gator Bowl Sports and pins an SEC Conference representative against an ACC/Big Ten/Notre Dame opponent.


This game has showcased many of college football’s biggest names, including Heisman Trophy winners George Rogers, Pat Sullivan, Earl Campbell, and John David Crow. Outstanding players such as Dan Marino, Thurman Thomas, Archie Manning, Larry Csonka, and Peyton Manning are also a part of the TaxSlayer Bowl Bowl Mistique. Many of America’s best coaching have been featured in the TaxSlayer Bowl, including Bobby Bowden, Steve Spurrier, and Vince Dooley.


The TaxSlayer Bowl is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization. For individuals who are not interested in purchasing tickets for the game, the TaxSlayer Bowl offers the Send A Child to the Game Program. This program is an effort to provide youth with the opportunity to experience the TaxSlayer Bowl game by providing them with tickets that were purchased by various companies and individuals in support of the program, which directly benefits children’s organizations throughout Jacksonville.


Donations to this program provide each child with a game ticket, hot dog and drink at the game, and transportation to and from the game. Donations can be made for an individual child or an entire bus of 40. To send one child to the game, the price is $75. To send one bus, the price is $3,000. You can also make a general donation.
