Do you gather around the television every year to watch the animated television special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”? Coming to Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts December 13, 2015 for a 1:30pm and 4:30pm showing, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is sure to bring back the nostalgia of childhood.

 

Based entirely on the animated television special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” this Broadway production is directed and conceived by Jeff Frank and First Stage. With the script adaptation by Robert Penola, it is seamless and perfectly done, following the iconic television special so closely it feels as if you are transported back in time watching it on television as a kid. With wonderful orchestrations by Timothy Splain, you will recognize the classic music from the television special like “Holly Jolly Christmas” and “We’re A Couple of Misfits.”

 

With all your favorite characters from the special, including Santa and Mrs. Clause, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, Clarice, Yukon Cornelius, and of course, Rudolph himself, you’ll want to come along for this musical adventure that finds a way to evoke the charming roughness of the TV show’s stop-motion animation through its simple set and use of puppets.

 

This show is made for both children and adults. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer live and with music is wonderfully interpreted to appeal to people of all ages. Children will be delighted by the colorful and lively night at the theater, while adults will experience a few fond memories from childhood.
