Motown the Musical


Ready for a thrilling musical? Come to the Times-Union Center at the Moran Theater in Jacksonville, Florida for the presentation of Motown the Musical. The musical is scheduled to be in Jacksonville from April 19th—April 24th. With seven shows, you’re sure to find one that will cater to your needs when you will want to attend. The show is 2 hours and 40 minutes, with a fifteen-minute intermission for you to recharge on snacks to get back to the adventurous Broadway play!


Motown the Musical follows Berry Gordy as he goes from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launches the careers of Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and tons more! This true story musical shatters all the barriers by shaping lives and making everyone move to the groovy beats. With classic songs including “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” “Dancing in the Street,” and everyone’s favorite “My Girl,” Motown the Musical will have you singing along with the cast! CBS Sunday morning comments that it is, “more than a Broadway show. A celebration of music that transformed America!”


Motown the Musical is entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. The energetic dance numbers and nonstop music will have kids of all ages up on their feet dancing along. While the show contains minimal adult language and references, its core message isn’t lost on those of all ages.


The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts is a multi-faceted complex that includes three theaters. The Jim and Jan Moran Theater accommodates up to 2,966 patrons, The Robert E. Jacoby Hall seats up to 1,800 patrons, while The C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Theater holds up to 600 patrons. The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts is located right next to The Landing, which sits right along the St. John’s River in downtown Jacksonville, giving you all the access to local shopping and dining before the show.
