Deerwood Country Club

Deerwood Country Club was the first gated country club community in Jacksonville, Florida. After being established in the 1960s, it was regarded as the most exclusive residential area on the Southside of Jacksonville—and still holds that title today. When it first started out, it was 900 acres of land turned into residential community with stately homes and luxurious amenities. It became a destination for golfers and tennis professionals all over the world. Deerwood Country Club is now home to a wide array of amenities and strives to be one of the best gated country clubs in the area.

Deerwood Country Club was put on the map when golf architect George Cobb designed a stunning course for the country club in 1960. The course would eventually draw the attention of professional golfers, including competitors who game to Deerwood for the Greater Jacksonville Open and The Players Championship. Deerwood Country Club’s entire golf facility underwent complete renovations in 2004. It was during this time that Brian Silva—an award-winning golf architect—developed a brand new, par-72 course with five sets of tees ranging from 5,228 yards for the reds to 7,261 yards for the championship tees. Guests can spend several hours enjoying the breathtaking 18-hole championship course.

In addition to the golf course, Deerwood Country Club has a fitness center, swimming pool and tennis facility among other amenities. Deerwood has thousands of mature trees that line its country style lanes, numerous lakes and ponds, and several parks—including a 3-acre playground and park open to all residents from dawn to dusk.

The community offers a country club lifestyle filled with plenty of fun in the sun and excellent quality of life. In the past, Deerwood homes for sale were all single-family homes, but in recent years, the community has added condos and courtyard homes. The area offers residents friendly, family oriented communities with a wide array of homes, school system, low crime rate and easy access to all the amenities of Jacksonville. The “First Coast” features miles of unspoiled beaches, excursions, historical sites, sporting, gaming and cultural activities, unique shopping and dining, and numerous festivals and events.
