Beaches Green Market

Every Saturday, rain or shine, come visit Jarboe Park for the local Green Market. The hours are from 2pm to 5pm, and there cannot be any selling of products before or after the given time. Local Vendors are here at the Green Market, including Alvarez Farms, Cecil’s Citrus, Twinn Bridges Herb Farm, Urban Folk Farm and more.

Vendors at the Green Market sell a wide variety of in-season, local and organic produce, local all-natural meats, free-range eggs, cut flowers, locally roasted organic coffees, edible plants and trees, orchids, handcrafted teas, gluten-free and vegan foods, handcrafted cheeses, locally made desserts, freshly baked breads, homemade dog treats, local honey and many other seasonal delights.

Through the Beaches Green Market, community members can learn about seasonality and sustainable farming practices by getting to personally know the people who grow their food. The Market aims to empower through education and awareness, thus allowing people to make active decisions toward the betterment of their personal health, that of their families and the planet as a whole.

During the summer season, expect the seasonal produce to consist of peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, corn, melons, peaches, herbs, okra, and beans. As fall approaches, the earlier fall seasonal produce will include eggplants, peppers, okra, herbs, plus a second harvest of tomatoes, cucumbers and summer squash.

The Beaches Green Market welcome SNAP & EBT Customers! Beginning in March 2014, the Beaches Green Market and other participating Market Vendors will be able to accept EBT payments from users of SNAP. SNAP eligible food items available at the Market are fruits and vegetables, fresh-baked breads, local honey, jams, granola, food-producing seeds and plants for home gardens, meats & cheeses and more!

The Beaches Green Market has been a success, with many customers singing their praises. Ruth Chambers comments, “Wonderful people, out of this world produce, breads, flowers—you name it—and inexpensive parking. I look forward to going there every Saturday. A wonderful meet and greet experience, too. Best thing to come to the beaches in a long time!”

And if what you are looking for isn’t there one Saturday you come, there is always next Saturday in hopes of finding the right produce to suit your needs.
